But the 2009 Mac Pros don't have PATA Optical drives, like the 2008 and earlier Mac Pros did. Interesting thing about the Dynex card though - it has 2 ext power jacks. It works fine in bootcamp/windows too (w/driver install)) but at least I didn't waste a lot of money on it. but I'll likely replace it soon with a better (sata 6Gb) card. I keep meaning to check SI's site to see if they've posted anything later than 1.1.11u for the 3132 (still hoping for a 64bit driver. I added that to my original article on "OS X 10.6 Tests w/Cheap eSATA PCIe and ExpressCards" Reinstalling 1.1.9 drivers after SL upgrade/install works though (as many owners of 3132 cards reported at the site literally the day SL hit retail)Īnyway there was a later 1.1.11u SIl 3132 driver posted back in Oct.

SL installer removes any 3132 drivers though on initial install (mentioned the day SL was released, in an apple doc etc (even thought that doc mentioned a different version driver). I'm running that same ($19.9x) Dynex 3132 (2 port) card in my 2009 Mac Pro - the CD with mine (bought in late aug 09) had 1.1.9 drivers (which worked in SL 32bit, after SL install.

So when you boot 64bit SL, no driver is loaded for the Dynex card (ASP will report that) - therefore it isn't usable when running SL 64bit (with only 32bit drivers installed). (one of these days wanted to see if a plist edit would matter) I don't think Sil has released 64bit drivers for the 3132 (not checked in months though) - Firmtek did for their 3132 based cards but their driver wont work with other than their (more expensive) cards. The 2-port Dynex card you have is based on the Sil 3132 chip - the drivers for the SIL 3124 mentioned above are for the 4 port cards (different controller chip - the 3124) and will not work with 3132 cards.
